Welcome to Second Grade Parent Information

  • Welcome to Second Grade!
I am looking forward to working together to make this year a positive one for your child.  This will be my fifth year as a Second Grade teacher at Liberty Bell.  Previously, I taught third grade here, as well as in two other districts.  I know that this year will be very successful!
Your child should not need many school supplies, as I will provide the necessary materials we use throughout the year.  However, your child may wish to bring in the following items:  #2 pencils (we go through MANY during the year), erasers, colored pencils, and fine-tip markers (to use during social studies and in-class art projects).   Students are also asked to please bring ear buds, as we will be using iPads within the classroom this year and during their Tech Smarts classes.
On the first day of school, all students will receive a blue Teacher/Parent Communication Folder.  This will serve as your child's homework folder and communication folder.  The "Return to School" side of the folder will contain papers to be completed at home and then returned to school, such as homework.  The "Leave at Home side" will contain papers we completed together in school, or special announcements from the office.  Your child will also receive a homework assignment book this year.  This assignment book will be a valuable source of communication between us.  This year, students will write down any assignments or important information inside this book.  Please review your child's assignment book and sign the book daily, as I will initial it each day.
Lunch this year is at 12:00, therefore no snack will be eaten within the classroom.  Students are welcome to bring in a sports water bottle if needed.
Finally, please check my website for weekly homework assignments and any important information for you.
Thank you for your support and cooperation!  If you have any questions, please contact me via email, jot a note in your child's assignment book, or call me at extension 3110.
