Uses text to express a clear, focused message

          Uses multiple sentences to add detail connected to the topic

        

Organization

Writes in a logical order, including a recognizable beginning, middle and end.

Writes a topic/main idea sentence (Begins by restating the prompt when appropriate)

Writes a closing sentence (Restates the topic sentence in a new way.)

Writes two or more supporting details sentences related to the topic

 

Conventions

         Uses capital and lower case letters with fair consistency

Uses periods, exclamation points, and question marks with fair consistency

Spells First Grade “No Excuse Words” correctly

Spells some challenging words correctly
