    Introduction

State your topic sentence.  This is the sentence that defines the subject of the whole piece and tells the reader some general information about it.  (You may use a short attention-grabber if it directly relates to the topic.  You may create a list of upcoming topics that will be discussed.)

    Body

    1.    Write one paragraph for each of the main ideas that relate to the topic.  Each paragraph should have its own main idea sentence that tells about the topic.

    2.    The remaining sentences in the paragraph should include words and sentences that answer the questions who? what?  when? where?  and  why?  You should include facts, quotes, and specific topic appropriate vocabulary. Your purpose is to provide readers with information about a specific topic or event.

    Conclusion

The conclusion is the final paragraph of the expository piece.  Restate the topic or give the reader a satisfying ending to your

    piece.
