Journalism

  • Newspaper Journalism

This course is designed to immerse you in the 21st century world of journalism and mass communication.  We will read a variety of journalistic material, learn to write in several different media writing styles, and and study significant topics related to journalism, such as the First Amendment, ethics, copyright, history, and design.  A strong emphasis is placed on technology, and we will use technology on a daily basis to communicate, research, and produce our school newspaper.  Students will write articles on a regular basis with the goal of publication in The Spotlight.  Our print newspaper is published six times per year, and our online newspaper is updated on an ongoing basis.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Journalism or at least one prior successful year of News Journalism.
