A minimum of half of the drill work IN EACH CATEGORY for the marking period shall be completed prior to the mid-point of the marking period.  ALL drill work and proficiency tests for the marking period MUST be completed anytime prior to the end of the school day on the dates shown.  The Music Lab is open mornings before school, throughout the day on selected periods, or after school.  Check with Mr. Bolasky or Mr. Wehr IN ADVANCE for specific times.

    Log-in Procedures for THIS YEAR.

Log in to your ASSIGNED Music Lab computer using your student ID number. Work done on another computer will not count!   If you are having hardware or software issues contact Mr. B or Mr. Wehr immediately.

Log in to AURALIA with your last name, followed by your first initial with NO space!!  Use a password to protect your Auralia account.  It can be any combination of numbers or letters.  It is NOT case-sensitive.

You MUST use the correct format for logging on to Auralia, that is last name and first initial with NO SPACE between the two.  Test results shown under a name logged incorrectly WILL NOT COUNT!!!  You may work ahead, but remember once you take a proficiency test, the results are final.  It cannot be retaken.

DO NOT wait until the last minute to do your drills or take your tests.

DO  drill work on a regular basis, even if for only 10-15 minutes per session.

DO check your work sometime prior to the end of the marking period.  Grades cannot be given for work that is not there!

Valuable Hint!!!   You’ll need some preparation to deal with Tuning Levels 3 & 6.  To learn what in-tune 4ths, 5ths & Octaves sound like, go to Intervals & Scales à Interval Recognition.         Levels 1 & 2 will play these intervals in tune (Level 1 = ascending intervals, Level 2 = descending intervals).

DON'T FORGET TO LOG OUT WHEN YOU ARE DONE WORKING!!!

For students who may miss the proficiency mark for any given quarter, the grade to be entered into the gradebook will be calculated as follows:  The student’s score on a proficiency test will be divided by the proficiency level for that quarter/year to arrive at a percentage.  The resulting number will be entered into the gradebook as that score out of 100 for the Auralia Proficiency Test grade.  Example – a first year student attains a score of 60 on a Level 2 tuning proficiency test.  Since the proficiency level for first year students is 80 or better, the student’s score – 60 – is divided by 80.  The resulting percentage is 75%.  The grade entered for that student’s Level 2 Tuning proficiency test for the quarter will be a 75 out of 100 possible points.

Note:  All Auralia requirements combined carry a weight of 15% toward the student’s final grade for each marking period unless noted otherwise in the syllabus for Band or Orchestra.
