I have been studying Spanish since I was in high school and l love speaking Spanish whenever possible. While at St. Lawrence University as a History major and Latin American Studies minor, I studied abroad in San José, Costa Rica. It was during this time that I realized how interested I had become in the connections between language and culture.
I went on to attain two masters degrees, in Bilingual and Bicultural Studies and Secondary Education, at La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
I taught Spanish and History for three years in Philadelphia, one year at Olney High School and two years at Cardinal Dougherty High School. I also taught two years at Strath Haven High School in Wallingford, PA and half a year at Wissahickhon Middle School in Ambler before coming to Southern Lehigh High School in 2005.
I have traveled to Mexico and Spain on several occasions. I spent a summer living with a Spanish family in Sanlúcar de la Barrameda, a small town in Andalucia, the southwestern region of Spain, during the summer of 2000. It was during this trip that I fell in love with all that Spain has to offer, especially churros y chocolate. Since that time, I have chaperoned several school trips to Spain including a fabulous trip in the Spring of 2015. I am always looking forward to more travel in the years to come! We will be traveling to Spain this year again!
Every year brings new opportunities for learning and growing in the Spanish language. What will you discover this year?
