Welcome to the 2016-17 school year. I am the gifted support teacher for SLMS. I teach 7th grade gifted Academic Literacy and gifted Language Arts. I teach 8th grade gifted Language Arts and Gifted Seminar/Applied Technology. I push in with Mr. Meyers to an enriched 8th grade science class and work with Mrs. MacIntyre to enrich and support the gifted students in science.
Prior to coming to Southern Lehigh, I taught for many years in various parochial schools throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. I have taught sixth grade, fourth grade, third grade, second grade, and one year of kindergarten. I've had a lot of experience teaching children of all ages, but my favorite age to teach is middle school. I love teaching reading and am a certified reading specialist. In addition I hold certificates in elementary education, middle school English, and middle school social studies.
I earned my BSEd from Millersville University and my MSEd and Reading Specialist Certificate from Gwynedd Mercy College. In December, 2014, I earned my Gifted Specialist Certificate from Millersville University. I have been teaching at SLMS since 2007.
I live in Quakertown with my husband, sons, and dogs. My oldest son is a senior at Rochester Institute of Technology studying civil engineering technology, and my youngest son is a 10th grader QCHS. My hobbies include watching and cheering for whatever sports my sons are playing (football, basketball, baseball, Army ROTC Ranger Challenge team - this is a new one), reading, writing, walking, kayaking, and sewing.
I am happy to be teaching at Southern Lehigh!!!
