7th Grade Health

  • Welcome to 7th Grade Health Education

     The following sections supply you with the necessary information to complete this course successfully.  Please individually and then with your parents, read this sheet carefully, then (both parties) sign the bottom indicating understanding of the requirements.

     

    MEETING:

    We will meet in class aproximately14 classes for 1 quarter. That being said there will be no test and most of your grades will come from in-class or out of class assignments/ projects.

     

    GRADING:

    Your grade will be based on a point system.  Each assignment, quiz, class assignment, project, etc. will be assigned a point value.  In addition to the “material” points you may receive, I will also base points on preparation, cooperation, and class participation.  Poor behavior could result in loss of points.

     

    NOTES:

    Each student is to come to class prepared with a Health handouts, writing utensil(s) and any worksheets/assignments we have been working on.  Remember preparation is part of your grade and I will monitor that.

     

    *In addition, it is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS MISSED if absent.  DON’T wait until your next Health class to find out that information, homework assignment may be due. Come to room 116 and see me.

      

    HOMEWORK:

    Homework MUST be TURNED IN at the beginning of the period of the DAY IT IS DUE, no exceptions. Half credit will not be awarded in any circumstance. (If absent, homework will be collected the next health class or student will be given an exempt at teachers discretion).

     

    PROJECTS/PAPERS:

    Projects are due the date specified.  All projects are graded with a rubric, and points will be awarded accordingly.  Point deductions will be made for late projects!

     

    EXTRA CREDIT

    Extra Credit is awarded at teacher’s discretion.

     

    NEAT WORK

    ALL collected material is to be done NEATLY!  If paper is crumbled, doodled on, or handwriting is not legible, points will be deducted.

     

    SEATING:

    A seating chart will be made up and students will sit in assigned seats.  There will be times when small groups will be formed and other seats need to be taken.

     

    LAV/LOCKER PASSES:

    A sign-out sheet will be provided.  Passes will be kept to a MINIMUM and YOUR school-issued pass.  Your AGENDA will only be used for LAV/LOCKER PASSES.  All others will be school-issued passes.

     

    GETTING INTO CONTACT:

    Any student wishing to turn in a project, assignment, paper, etc. because of an absence, can do so by giving it directly to me, otherwise items may be lost.  IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to follow up on any missed work.

                 

    PLAGARISM/CHEATING:

    Any form of cheating and/or plagiarism will be given a 0.  This can occur on tests, quizzes, papers, projects open note tests, etc.

               

    Sharing of any health related material to gain an advantage on test, quizzes, projects, etc., is a serious school violation and will warrant a ZERO! Random notebook checks will be preformed to ensure all work is genuine.

     

    ACCOMODATIONS:

    If any accommodations are necessary, please see Mrs. McGinniss immediately after class (within the first week) so she will be able to meet your needs.
