Important Real Estate Tax Bill Information
To receive school property tax relief for tax years beginning July 1 or January 1, an application for homestead or farmstead exclusions must be filed by the preceding March 1. School districts are required to notify homeowners by December 31 of each year if their property is not approved for the homestead or farmstead exclusion or if their approval is due to expire. The March 1 application deadline for property tax relief is set in the Homeowner Tax Relief Act (Section 341 of Act 72 of 2004). The Governor does not have the authority to unilaterally extend this deadline by an executive order. Any changes to the application deadline would have to be addressed through legislation.
Installment payment of taxes shall be due and payable in one-third (1/3) equal payments, without discount, on or before August 10, 2026, October 10, 2026, and December 10, 2026. In order to be eligible to make installment payments, a taxpayer must make the first installment payment on or before August 10, 2026. No discount shall be offered for the installment payments. After the first installment, if an installment payment is not paid when due, then a ten percent (10%) penalty shall be assessed on the amount of the installment payment due.
Only a postmark from the Post Office will be accepted as proof of mailing.

Applications for 2025 Property Tax/Rent Rebates are being accepted. The deadline to submit your rebate application is June 30, 2026. Applications postmarked by that date will be accpeted for processing.
