The SUN Bucks program for free or reduced eligible students to help families over the summer will continue for the summer of 2026.

"No cost" breakfast for all students will continue for the 2026-2027 school year!
Funding for "no cost" breakfast has been approved! Breakfast will be available for all students free of charge for the entire 2026-2027 school year!
In the event of a 2 hour delay, breakfast will NOT be served. This applies to the entire 2025-2026 school year.
Enrolled students who are in-school learning will be able to get a breakfast meal in their school cafeteria. No breakfast distribution to remote students will happen at this time.
Breakfast menus are available by clicking "School Menus" on the left side of this page.
The listed serving times below may be adjusted as necessary. We will notify parents/guardians of any schedule changes.
- Hopewell Elementary and Liberty Bell Elementary will serve breakfast from 8:40am to 9:10am.
- Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate School will serve breakfast from 8:35am to 9:10am.
- Southern Lehigh High and Middle Schools will serve breakfast from 7:15am to 7:30am.
A breakfast meal consists of an entrée item (breakfast sandwich, yogurt & muffin, mini waffles, bagel, Pop Tarts, etc.), fruit or fruit juice, and a choice of milk. A fruit or fruit juice and milk must be taken to receive a breakfast meal deal price. Gluten free options include 1 bowl of GF Cereal (currently Honey Cheerios or Lucky Charms) or 2 - 4oz. Yogurt or 2 String Cheese Sticks or 1 - 4oz. Yogurt & 1 String Cheese Stick, fruit or fruit juice, and a choice of milk. A fruit or fruit juice and milk must be taken to receive a GF breakfast meal deal price.
- 1 "no cost" breakfast will be offered to all students. Additional breakfast meals on the same day will be charged to a student's account accordingly.
- Items that are not chosen as part of a meal deal (single milk, single fruit, single main entrée item, etc.) must be charged to a student's account as an À la carte item. All 3 breakfast components, as listed above, must be taken to qualify as a meal.
- Students will pick up their breakfast in their school's cafeteria.

"No Cost" Reduced Lunch Information
Funding by the State of Pennsylvania for "No Cost" reduced priced meals, to cover the $0.40 reduced lunch charge for those students who qualify for that benefit, will continue for the entire 2026-2027 school year. Students who qualify for reduced price meals will be provided "no cost" lunch for the 2026-2027 school year.
Additional Information
While the outlook for the 2026-2027 school year looks more stable than the previous year, there are still some items that are having production and availability issues. We expect to be able to source 95% of the items we usually use to provide healthy school meals that follow the necessary guidelines. There could be times that we will not receive what we order, which will necessitate a menu change in the week or even the day of service.
When there is a need to change menu items, the Lead Food Service Worker notifies the main office of their school, so the menu change can be communicated to the students. When we are aware that a menu change is necessary a day or more in advance, an email will be sent out to notify parents. We are striving to ensure product shortages and menu changes do not happen.
Please keep in mind, menus are created with the expectation of not having supply concerns. So, we continue to ask for everyone’s patience and understanding during these extended unusual times.

Giant in Coopersburg - Feeding The Kids Program
We are excited to announce Southern Lehigh School District is a recipient of @GIANT’s Feeding School Kids initiative! Thanks to GIANT’s support, we received $7455.88 to grow school feeding programs and purchase new equipment to help eliminate child hunger within our schools. Thank you to all who rounded up at the register!
Together, we are ensuring students have access to the nutrition they need to grow and fuel their education.

The food service program is a self-sustaining department that does not rely on taxpayer funding directly through the school district. It relies fully on meal and A la Carte sales in the cafeteria, reimbursements from the federal and state governments based on the amount of meals served, and any grants or donations, such as GIANT's Feeding The Kids program.
These funds will help with addressing food insecurity in our school community. Our district looks forward to partnering with The GIANT Company to fight childhood hunger. If students are not Directly Certified for free meal benefits, families must submit the income and name of each person who lives in the household, via an application. This can be done online at the link provided below, or a paper application is available through your child's school office.
À la carte items will be available for purchase and students must have money in their accounts or in hand in order to purchase à la carte items (extra entrée, milk, snacks, etc.). A complete lunch includes: Entrée item, Vegetable, Fruit or Juice, and Milk (Vegetable, Fruit, and/or Juice MUST be selected to constitute a complete meal). We encourage any family who can benefit from free or reduced meals to submit an application, whether you believe you'll qualify or not. ONLY students who are directly certified by the State of Pennsylvania or turn in an application that establishes free or reduced eligibility, based on the household's income, will receive those benefits.
Information from the free & reduced application can be used by the State of Pennsylvania to provide additional funding to families that need it. Even if you don't think your family will qualify, we still encourage you to fill out a free and reduced lunch application. Click here to view the application on our website.
