Letter From New SLMS Principal Deanna Webb

September 13, 2022

Dear SLMS Community,

Hello! My name is Deanna Webb, and I am so excited to introduce myself as the next principal of Southern Lehigh Middle School! Over the next few weeks, I look forward to transitioning into this new role and building relationships with the dedicated and talented students, staff, and school community of SLMS.

Professionally, I have served in several districts over my tenure, most recently as the Assistant Principal at Southern Lehigh’s own Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate School.  Previously, I served as a Special Education Teacher in a variety of settings, and also as a national trainer for the International Institute of Restorative Practices. I received a Bachelor’s degree from West Chester University, a Master’s degree from the International Institute of Restorative Practices, and my Principal Certification from Moravian University (formally Moravian College). I am currently working on my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from East Stroudsburg University.

In 2004, I began my teaching career with the Intermediate Unit 20 in a seventh and eighth-grade building, and since then I’ve had the opportunity to experience all levels of education.  Following the IU, I worked in Easton Area School District’s alternative education setting developing a special education program and then spent many years at Freedom High School as an Emotional Support Teacher, English teacher, and Student Government Advisor. Most recently, I served as Assistant Principal at Joseph P. Liberati Intermediate school,  and now my journey is coming full circle as I enter into the Principalship, back in a seventh and eighth-grade building, within the wonderful Southern Lehigh Middle School community.

I am so proud to serve as a school leader in the Southern Lehigh community and I am thankful for the opportunity to lead at Southern Lehigh Middle School. At my core, I believe all students need to feel welcomed, accepted, and safe at school, so they are resilient in facing challenges and continually improving with each day. As such, my goal as an educator is to provide high levels of support and high expectations to all students and staff to ensure the highest level of personal growth and achievement.

Together, I believe that we will make Southern Lehigh Middle School the best middle school in the valley - a place where children feel excited to attend, staff feel empowered to do their best, and parents feel engaged and proud of our school community. In order to accomplish this, it is essential we create collaborative learning environments where students, staff, and families build strong relationships centered around helping each child achieve their utmost potential.

Looking forward to a wonderful school year!

Deanna L. Webb, MRPE
