This is an update on the condition of the stadium grass turf at Southern Lehigh School District. If you are unaware, a turf disease was identified in the stadium early during the month of July for which Godshall’s Landscaping was contacted and responded quickly treating the stadium with herbicides. Later in July, heat stress had a devastating impact on the field’s condition which resulted in the need for drastic measures to save the field for the upcoming season. Godshall’s Landscaping and the District have been working in tandem to reseed, compost and aerate the field followed by daily inspections and consultation with multiple turf grass experts.
Safety and playability of the field is a major concern of District Administration. The District is reviewing those concerns and reaching out to PIAA officials for their input on field playability. Plans and options are being developed and tweaked as necessary to address new information as it becomes available.
Plans will be shared as they become available. Thank you for the understanding.
