K-12 English Language Arts
Vision for K-12 Language Arts
The English Language Arts program within the Southern Lehigh School District will provide opportunities for all students to become lifelong learners. Teachers will support all students to read and think critically, write clearly, and communicate effectively to become productive citizens in a global society.
Elementary English Language Arts
In grades K-6, the Southern Lehigh School District is committed to building strong foundational literacy skills through a cohesive approach to reading and writing instruction. The following research-based programs are key components of our elementary literacy program:
- Heggerty for phonemic awareness
- Fundations for systematic phonics and spelling
- Geodes for connected decodable texts that build knowledge and fluency
- Wit & Wisdom for rich, content-based reading and writing instruction
Together, these programs provide students with the tools they need to become confident, capable readers and effective communicators.
Middle and High School English Language Arts
In grades 7-12, the Southern Lehigh School District uses StudySync as the core English Language Arts curriculum.
