Mrs. Lori Kern became a registered nurse in 1989 graduating with an Associates Degree from Gwynedd Mercy College and completed a Bachelors Degree in 1991, also from Gywnedd Mercy College. Her hospital experience includes surgical, post surgical nursing and cardiac care. She was employed by Helene Fuld Hospital in New Jersey on a step down post surgical floor, University of Penn Hospital in Philadelphia on a step down open heart floor, and worked as a cardiac catheterization nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown. She graduated from Kutztown University with a Certificate in School Nursing in 2004 and has since been working as a Certified School Nurse. Prior to becoming the Intermediate School Nurse in May of 2012, Mrs. Kern worked in the Whitehall Coplay School District covering grades K-12 in both the public and private schools within the district. She was a member of the Whitehall Coplay District Safety and Emergency Response Team, High School SAP team and a member of the CLIU Flight team. Mrs. Kern is also an American Heart Association CPR instructor.

Health Paraprofessional: Mrs. Karen Rabenold
The IS health room employs a part time health paraprofessional, Mrs Rabenold, in addition to our school nurse. Health paraprofessionals are certified in Red Cross First Aid and CPR. Their primary responsibility is to assist the nurse in administering first aid to injuries that occur during school hours and care for students who become ill while attending school. In addition to these duties, she assists the nurse to carry out the Pennsylvania health mandates: annual height and weight measurements, hearing and vision screenings, assisting with sports physicals and maintaining health records of the office.
