Save your soda tabs!
Ms. Gaugler’s students are on a quest to collect soda tabs for the Ronald McDonald House! Through this philanthropic endeavor students will discover the importance of recycling and raise funds to help children and their families at the same time.
The Ronald McDonald House is a "home away from home" for families traveling more than 25 miles to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. They collect pop tabs instead of entire aluminum cans because the tabs are pure high-quality aluminum, unlike cans, which consist of aluminum and other alloys. Tabs are also easier to store than whole cans. After the tabs are collected and delivered to the Ronald McDonald House, the collection is then taken to a local recycling center, where they are weighed to determine their value. The recycling center then sends the Ronald McDonald House a check for the total value.
When tabs are brought in, students should place them in the “Soda Tabs” container in Ms. Gaugler’s classroom (244).
Here’s a tip…keep a container on the kitchen counter to collect your tabs! And be sure to tell your friends, relatives, and neighbors, too!
Thank you for your help!
