This year, in Social Studies, we will learn about the American Revolution through the book Chains, written by Laurie Halse Anderson. Chains is an historical fiction novel written about a young slave girl who is living in New York and working for a loyalist family at the time of the American Revolution. She struggles with the best way to go about gaining her freedom. Who can she believe and trust? Read with us to find out.Throughout the reading of the novel, we will be referencing our Social Studies text to build upon concepts introduced by the novel. We will make many connections through our reading and participate in many activities both on paper and through the use of technology.
