• The Southern Lehigh School District has received approval from the PA Department of Education to utilize Flexible Instructional Days (FID) as an alternate approach to delivering instruction if a circumstance arises that prevents instruction in customary manner. The District may utilize the Flexible Instructional Day program when schools cannot open due to inclement weather (i.e. "snow day") or any emergency, such as a fire on school grounds.

When the Superintendent determines to utilize an FID, students will complete learning activities and assignments remotely instead of physically present in the school building.

A Flexible Instructional Day (FID) will count as an instructional day for students, and the District may utilize up to five (5) Flexible Instructional Days (FID) in a single school year.

To be considered in attendance for the day, students will attend whole class meetings and engage in prompt or instructional activities through the Learning Management System and/or a video conferencing platform. The submission of the related prompt and/or activity will be reviewed by the teacher for attendance purposes. The teacher will use the Learning Management System to track student attendance while using the functions related to submission present within this system to track student work completion. Students will need to complete digital assignments provided during the Flexible Instructional Day (FID) or turn in physical assignments immediately upon the return to school in order to be marked present.
