Vision for K-12 Social Studies

The K-12 Social Studies program within the Southern Lehigh School District will provide comprehensive instruction that will prepare students to become informed and engaged members of a democratic society.  Through integrated studies in Civics, Geography, Economics, and History, students will develop critical thinking, embrace diversity, identify connections between past and present, and make informed decisions based on facts and evidence.  Our goal is to prepare students to be responsible and productive citizens in a culturally diverse society and an interconnected world.

• 7th grade studies Eastern Civilizations using Savvas MyWorld: Geography
• 8th grade studies United States History, Colonial Period through 1877 using Savvas American History: MyWorld Interactive for the Middle Grades

High School Social Studies

• 9th grade studies United States History, 1877 through Present using Savvas American History: MyWorld Interactive
• 10th grade studies World History
• 11th grade studies Civics and Government
